The Manual

While working on the power supply, which I thought was just called the Oltronix B60-15R, I stumbled upon the manual for something called the "Racpac 1000" online at aef.se, an online electronics museum for vintage electronics and its history. To my surprise, it turns out that this was the actual name of the supply I was working on!

The manual was an unexpected but welcome find. It's packed with detailed information, including component lists, values, and even variations of the mainboard. After checking my unit, I realized I have the 9155 version of the board, which makes sense since this is the larger 60V model. It's rare to see this level of precision in modern manuals, making it a real gem when dealing with older equipment like this.

I cross-referenced some of the capacitor values with the manual, and thankfully, everything on my board matched up. This will come in handy when I order new capacitors, as the ones I swapped in were just temporary. The manual will make sure I'm sticking to the right specs, which is essential for such an old piece of gear.

As I was flipping through the manual, I also noticed how the original covers were supposed to look. My unit is missing the top cover completely, and the bottom cover has a strange hole cut into it, almost as if someone was either using it for parts or trying to fit a fan. With this new information, I could probably CAD and 3D-print replacement covers to restore the supply back to its original state.

Finding this manual has been a game-changer. Not only does it give me the confidence that I'm working with accurate information, but it also feels like a small piece of history has been uncovered. Restoring this power supply properly just became a lot easier.
